How do I add a new client?

In Blinksale a “client” consists of a company constituted by one or more associated persons. You can’t add a client person without having first created a client company for her; similarly, you can’t create a client company without creating at least one client person to go along with it. It’s a package deal.

That said, it’s actually very easy to create a new client. There are two ways. First, you can create a new invoice and type the name of the client in the new client field. You’ll then be asked to fill out a Company Info page for that client.

The other way is to hit the People tab at the top of the page, which will take you to a list of all your current client companies and persons. Hit the New Company button in the sidebar on the right. You’ll be taken to the same Company Info page that you would have hit going with the other method.

The only required fields here are the company’s name and a first name, last name and email address for your main guy or gal there; but this is a good time to put in all the contact information you can provide. Hit Save Company Info when you’re done, and you’ll have both a new client company and a main contact person to represent it.

If you’ve already created a client company, and just want to add additional client persons under its umbrella, you can do that under the People tab as well. Find the company and hit the Add Person link under its name. Fill out the contact information fields for your friend, then hit Save Person.
